Ketchup is one of North America’s most popular condiments. This sweet, bright red, tomato-based sauce is well loved and goes on all kinds of food. Interestingly, ketchup originally wasn’t even red! It was a vinegar-based sauce, and didn’t contain any tomatoes until the 19th century.
